We are sorry to say that we have some extremely bad news for the loyal supporters of the original OxyELITE Pro formula:
In April of 2013, USPLabs announced that they will no longer be producing the original OxyELITE Pro, nor will they produce any more Jack3d Original.
The official press release is below.
This decision is mainly due to the DMAA content, which the FDA never felt comfortable with. While USPLabs and GNC rightly contested that well over a billion servings of DMAA (from Jack3d and OxyELITE Pro) were safely taken, and that DMAA is a natural component from Chinese Geranium plants, the FDA still had unresolved issues with it.
The interesting note is that DMAA is still not outright banned by the FDA, but they seem to be making it extremely unpleasant for companies to sell or market it.
Stock Up on the Original Formula While You Can
Like USPLabs, we here at this website contend that DMAA is safe and extremely effective (as shown in all of the reviews), so we were disappointed to learn about this.
The good news is that the Original OEP formula is still available, and will continue to be available until it is sold out. You can see the price comparison widgets on this page to buy OxyELITE Pro from the cheapest store on the web.
What about the New Formula and the Powdered Formula?
Those are the other good pieces of news.
There is already a new OxyELITE Pro Formula, as well as a tasty OxyELITE Pro Powder that you can drink first thing in the morning and pre workout -- kind of like a fat-burning energy drink without any of the nonsense of typical energy drinks.
So the OxyELITE Pro name is going to stick around -- just without the DMAA. So as we write this, there are actually three choices, and you really can't go wrong with any of them.
I have Access to Both Formulas - Which Do I Get?
Since both capsule-based formulas are available at this time, you can read some of our write-ups on the differences between the new and old formulas here.
In short, it comes down to whether or not you like DMAA. Most people don't just like it, they love it, so if you want to see what the fuss is all about, you can still try it for a limited time (remember, it's not illegal in the US).
The Original Press Release on the DMAA Discontinuation
Dallas, TX – April 16, 2013 – USPlabs stands by the safety and legality of its products containing the dietary ingredient 1,3-DMAA.
Despite being among the most studied ingredients ever with 11 published peer-reviewed clinical & analytical studies, the FDA has urged the industry to discontinue the use of 1,3-DMAA in dietary supplements. We disagree with FDA's position.
The company has never-the-less concluded for business reasons to phase-out products containing 1,3-DMAA and replace them with new advanced formulations.
USPlabs would like to take this opportunity to thank its loyal customers who can continue to expect safe and effective products developed through cutting-edge research and development.
